Josh West is one of today's in-demand, and well-loved adult film stars. He has worked with some of the hottest performers and most respected directors in the industry. Hotsapien's Candice Littleton caught up with Mr. West and conducted our first ever "Facebook-powered" interview!

HS: Hi Josh. I don't know about anyone else, but I want to know; If Josh West is your
birth name or if it isn't what or who inspired the name?

JW: HI Candice. No, Josh West is not my birth name, but I do like it… Ray Dragon was the inspiration for the name. He helped me pick it out… I liked the name Josh, but he told me to use the street name on which I grew up and that stuck. So Josh West is the name I picked!

HS:  Let's get the usual name, rank and serial number questions out of the way first... in really short answers. Ok ready?

JW: I am ready!!!

JW: Logan, UT is my birthplace.
HS: Sexual Orientation
JW: I am definitely Gay I’ve tried the other way and it just didn’t work…

JW: I work in Finance…  I have a masters in business.

JW: No and I don’t think it’s a good idea they know either <smiling>

JW: My favorite place to vacation is Miami.. I love the beach.
HS: Have you ever busted a nut in public
JW: Oh yeah plenty of times in the stall at work, on the beach, in the mountains hiking. I can’t help myself.

JW: My Favorite actor is Kevin Spacey and Favorite Actress is Julianne Moore.

JW: Favorite food is ice cream!
HS: What one thing you want your fans to appreciate about your body
JW: I want my fans to appreciate my smile… I don’t get to smile too much in the movies …
HS: Are you currently dating, single or seriously invovled
JW: I am single and loving every minute of it
HS: Oh and last but not least...age
JW: I am 35 years old

HS: Whew...Ok now that we have that out of the way we can get to some serious questions. What's your view on the recent developments in Washington and Maine regarding legal recognition of gay marriage? And do you regard these developments as just another aspect of the sexual evolution of America? Also, do you think of yourself as an activist?

JW: I am definitely not an activist.. I stick up for what I believe but wouldn’t stand on the street and shout it.
All Good Questions by the way…  I believe that we all should have equal rights in regards to marriage.. It’s not my thing, but I have friends that want to get married and I think they should have all the rights and benefits of getting married for sure.
Yes I think they are just another aspect of gay evolution. Change takes years and we still can’t guarantee that everyone will accept and understand it the way we do.  People are scared of what they don’t understand.

HS:  There really isn't a porn models' professional union,like an AFTRA/SAG, so it seems there's never any written rule on what performers get paid or even insofar as contractual issues. What things would you change about the industry and are you in favor of porn performers' union?

JW: Well for me I have never been involved in an exclusive contract with any studio and so I have been able to pretty much do the projects as they come and choose what I want to do or not do. I consider myself very luck and blessed to have the opportunities that I have.
I do believe that for contracted performers that a union would be great and even for those not under a contract… It would help regulate the treatment of models and help with compensation. Unions are a good thing.

HS: How deep do you want to get in the industry, as in maybe directing, producing or more in the future?

JW: Well for me I really enjoy performing, but I do feel that sometimes being on the performance side a model can come up with great suggestions and themes so I would never turn down an opportunity to create a movie or scene and direct or co-direct. I am open to any opportunity that comes my way.

HS: I remember watching a documentary a few years ago and one interview subject, a male porn
star, responded rather sadly that a male in the industry usually comes how to an empty bed. His claim was that males are either single or in and out of unstable relationships whereas their female co-stars have a more enviable homelife, often coming home to a hubby or steady boyfriend. Do you think what he said is an accurate representation of the typical male porn star or was he definitely being melodramatic?

JW: Well I kind of sit on the fence in regard to this comment. I have been on both sides of that. I don’t think porn is the reason someone is alone. It may add some extra drama into a relationship, but I don’t think it causes models to be single and alone.

HS: I've seen you perform and you really have loads of energy on camera. Is that just you being you or good direction from the director?

JW: I take pride in my work and I feel like I give it my all when I perform, but I must say that a good director can bring out some unleashed energy as well. So in answer to that I feel that it’s a combination of both!!

HS:  I'm sure the energy you exude on camera is as a result of you taking care of your body, or at least it seems...I almost hate to ask this, but do you eat a lot of junk food or are you really health conscious?

JW: This makes me laugh… I do try and eat good for the most part, but I can’t pass up my ice cream. I love ice cream and I try to moderate it.

JW: Nope I’m a CNN guy

HS:  Do you have any favorite directors and co-stars that you like to work with on camera...of  course name names....

JW: Wow way to put me on the spot… This is hard I’ve had great experiences with so many that I hate to just name a few… I want to be politically correct too so I’ll say… Thanks to all the directors I’ve worked with and thanks to all the co-stars I’ve had… It’s been amazing so far!!!

HS:  What's your secret for staying in demand and being on that A-list of models that gets cast a lot in movies?

JW: Just being myself, working hard and always showing up with a can-do attitude and a big hard throbbing COCK!!

HS:  Do you find yourself doing lots more work for the web?

JW: Actually No I have only done a few web scenes, but most of my work has been in full production type movies.

HS:  I'm sure you have some interesting stories to tell about some of the web sites you may 
have modeled for in the past. There's some really...let's just say...creative web sites out there.

JW: I just recently did a couple of scenes for boundgods.com and wow talk about a challenge. I’m not necessarily a master in the fetish world, but I think I learned a lot from the experience!! I do love working with Harlan at Pride studios for menover30.com and extrabigdicks.com he has been great!!

HS: When you retire from this line of work, what memories do you think will stand out the most?

JW: The great relationships and friendships that I’ve built with co-stars, directors and all the tech people involved with the studios… I love meeting new people. It will always been a great memory!! I don’t want to ever retire.

HS: Wow, Josh you are a fascinating guy and I feel like I have a million more questions to ask you. Perhaps we can do a part two! 

JW: I’d be happy to do a part 2 sometime!!
